Geotextile Material Used For Drainage System Water Filters

Geotextile material like cloth used for various construction projects in the construction of the use of geotextile vertical drainage system installed to speed up the process of land subsidence . Vertical drainage materials used initially was pole sand , but there are now fabricated materials as a substitute for sand pile , which are coconut fiber geotextile and wrapped in burlap sack that serves as a filter .

This research was carried out by testing the consolidation tool to obtain the coefficient of consolidation Rowe either vertical or horizontal direction by using two materials mentioned above . Tests carried out without giving an additional material as a filter by using soft cohesive soil samples taken from the construction site at a depth of approximately 1.20 m with free strain loading conditions without taking into account the impact of the smear zone .

Consolidation coefficient obtained was then compared to the soil samples without vertical drainage and also compared against each other material . The results of this study indicate that the use of geotextile material and coconut fiber will increase the coefficient of vertical consolidation simply means
